Ironjaw, a new player in the injection market, launches the first clamping-force “booster” system for injection presses.

The technology, which can be adapted to all types of mould, increases the capacity of the injection press, enabling 30-60% more clamping force.

A new player in the injection market

Compose owner Bruno MACHET and Alex GUICHARD, the founder of RocTool and Revology, have joined forces to launch Ironjaw, the first European start-up specialized in boosting the clamping force of injection presses. “Our system has been successfully tested on several million R&D-stage parts, leading us to create a company that is dedicated to the technology in order to provide the world’s plastics processors and moulders with a cost-effective solution to boost press capacity. The technology makes it possible to use presses that are less powerful but more energy efficient to achieve the same result, with an immediate impact on part production prices,” explains Ironjaw founder and CEO Bruno MACHET.

Cutting-edge technology to boost press clamping force

Ironjaw technology is the first system to boost the clamping force of injection presses. It uses a system of steel “jaws” to clamp the mould. “The technology produces spectacular gains in moulding pressure – up to 60%, depending on the configuration – and decreases or even eliminates flash! It works with all types of plastics, including recycled materials,” continues Mr. MACHET. It took five years to develop the system, which is now patented.

Ironjaw: ramping up internationally

Injection concerns all sectors that use plastics: building & construction, packaging, automotive, electronics, and more. The start-up developed a standard range of Ironjaw® systems, from S to XL, and will unveil its innovation at Moulding Expo from 30 May through 2 June 2017, in Stuttgart. The major equipment manufacturers in Europe and the United States will be testing the Ironjaw® innovation over the next few months. The first industrial deliveries are announced for mid-2017. “I chose to co-invest in Ironjaw, because it is a technology with a lot of potential that addresses an international market. Bruno Machet is in charge of one of the sector’s most promising start-ups!” says Ironjaw co-founder Alex GUICHARD.

Ironjaw is a start-up that proposes innovative solutions for equipment manufacturers and plastics processors to boost the clamping force of injection presses. It has obtained a number of international patents for its Ironjaw® system. Based in Lisbon, Portugal, the company has developed a standard range of systems in formats from S to XL. An animated film explaining the technology is available at the website.
