Kara Water launches Kara Pure 2: a next-generation air-to-water device bringing clean water straight from the air.

Kara Water, a New York–based innovative clean-tech company turning air into pure drinking water, has officially launched Kara Pure 2 on Kickstarter. The latest model in the company’s award-winning product line, Kara Pure 2 extracts water from the air and enriches it with minerals (Ca, Mg, K, Zn, Na, H2SiO3), delivering up to 10 liters of 9.2pH+ water straight to your home.
The new Kara Pure 2 features a recirculating water system that continuously maintains freshness and quality, and an EPA-certified air filter that ensures both the air and water stay clean. Designed for simplicity, installation is as easy as plug in and enjoy—no plumbing or complex setup required.
As the company’s third-generation device, Kara Pure 2 builds upon a strong foundation of innovation. Kara Water’s earlier models—Kara Pure and Kara Pod Coffee Machine—were both named to TIME’s Best Inventions list in 2022 and 2023.
Since commercial launch in late 2021, Kara Water has sold over 1,000 units and produced more than one million liters of clean water for homes worldwide.
A 2024 study1 found that every liter of bottled water contains an average of 240,000 microscopic plastic particles, while research2 from the U.S. Geological Survey shows that nearly half of America’s tap water is contaminated with “forever chemicals.” Kara Water’s mission is to provide a cleaner, sustainable alternative—helping families reduce reliance on bottled water and the microplastics behind it.
Kara Pure 2 is for families seeking for clean water and for reducing their reliance on bottled water and the microplastic pollution.
Already EPA-certified and live on Kickstarter, Kara Pure 2 has attracted over 70 backers in its first days, signaling strong early consumer enthusiasm for air-to-water technology.
Founded in 2021, Kara Water draws inspiration from the Stenocara gracilipes beetle of the Namib Desert—a resilient insect that harvests water from air using its unique shell structure. Kara Pure mimics this natural process through biomimicry, applying Van der Waals forces to attract and condense moisture from the atmosphere, then mineralizing it for safe, sustainable hydration straight from the air.
The technology tackles climate adaptation and energy conservation, addressing the global challenge of water scarcity. While designed for consumer, it reduces reliance on bottled water and the microplastics behind it.
Kara Pure 2 is now available for pre-order on Kickstarter. Backers can join the mission to bring cleaner, smarter hydration to homes around the world.

As manufacturers offer more customization than ever before, managing product complexity has become a critical challenge. Tune in with Dan Joe Barry, Vice President of Product Marketing at Configit, who explores how companies are tackling the growing number of product configurations across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and service. He explains how Configuration Lifecycle Management (CLM) helps organizations maintain a single source of truth for configuration data. The result: fewer errors, faster quoting, and the ability to deliver customized products at scale.
