George Jon selected Datadobi to deliver data migration for its leading eDiscovery platform.
George Jon is an eDiscovery platform, product, and process specialist, delivering performant, scalable, fault tolerant environments. They work with global corporations, leading law firms, government agencies, and independent resellers/hosting companies to quickly and strategically implement large-scale eDiscovery platforms, troubleshoot and perfect existing systems, and provide unprecedented 24/7 core services to ensure maximum platform performance and uptime. George Jon employs a modular framework that has been tested and perfected over almost a decade and a half of R&D, environments can be customized (i.e., scaled) to individual client needs, budgets, and requirements. The best practices developed by George Jon have become the standard for global eDiscovery systems, driving productivity, profits, and peace of mind throughout the industry.
George Jon needed a solution to power its data migration services for clients across the corporate, legal, and managed services sectors. In building and launching best-in-class, secure eDiscovery environments, from procurement and buildout, George Jon sought data migration software that could provide clients with fast and reliable file transfer capabilities. They’ve managed projects for all of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms and members of the Am Law 100, among many others, so there is no room in any of their core services for second-best.
They also required a solution that contains a chain of custody capability to provide precision tracking of each object being migrated and gives them complete confidence in its integrity when it arrived at its destination.
They tried other tools but found the speed of other options couldn’t match Datadobi. Scalability wasn’t acceptable in other tools either, particularly when the timeframe for a cutover was narrowed down to a weekend or even a couple of hours – the optimal time for many clients. Reporting also lacked considerably in other solutions when contrasted against the Datadobi monitoring and support offerings. With the complexity of data sets George Jon deals with, Datadobi software made it easier than other tools to manage various components and it offered insights into when complex migrations would be completed.
Datadobi became known to George Jon after being referred by Dell. George Jon had a project of roughly 500 terabytes that needed to be completed in a six-month timeline. In search of a solution for large file migrations they turned to Datadobi.
The Datadobi migration software, DobiMigrate, was capable of the speed they were looking for and came equipped with the all-important chain of custody functionality that compares a hash taken at the beginning of a migration to a second one taken at the end. Both were George Jon’s core considerations in selecting DobiMigrate as its software of choice for the billions of files it migrates.
“In searching for best-of-breed migration technology, we evaluated a number of vendors and Datadobi provided the most accomplished and powerful set of capabilities,” explained Jordan McQuown, VP of Technology at George Jon.
Initially skeptical of the benchmarks Datadobi agreed to, George Jon supplied Datadobi a test data set and Datadobi met its promised benchmark, which was roughly 10X faster than other options.
From a transfer perspective, Datadobi performed faster than any other method George Jon had tried. From a relationship standpoint, Datadobi has proven to be uncomplicated and has required little time to set up. And, day to day, Datadobi reporting provides engineers and project managers, better attention management by giving project managers valuable insight into projects without having to interrupt the workflow flow of engineers to pull reports.
“Ultimately, Datadobi is the only product on the market that brings the kind of speed we need when you’re dealing data sets of millions and millions of tiny files. We have been working very effectively with their team to provide George Jon clients with excellent service and look forward to building on the success of projects already completed into a long-term relationship,” said McQuown.
