Glad Products Company and Discovery Education Partner to support science education for 100,000 first grade students across United States.

Charlotte, NC — The Glad Products Company partnered with Discovery Education — the worldwide edtech leader whose state-of-the-art digital platform supports learning wherever it takes place — to support science education for over 100,000 first grade students across the United States. Through this collaboration, The Glad Products Company donated its popular Press’n Seal® product to more than 3,000 educators nationwide, empowering them to bring the hands-on components of Discovery Education’s Mystery Science resources alive for tens of thousands of students nationwide.

Mystery Science, which joined the family of Discovery Education services in 2020, provides K-5 educators simple to use, open-and-go, hands-on lessons that inspire students to love science. Each lesson begins by posing a question commonly asked by young students, followed by a series of brief videos and prompts to guide class discussion. The lesson concludes with a hands-on activity designed to bring learning to life.

As educators often face the challenge of having the proper materials to effectively teach science lessons, Discovery Education offers educators using Mystery Science “Mystery Packs,” a set of curated supplies containing the resources needed to support students’ hands-on learning. Due to global supply chain complications, Mystery Science was not able to source all the materials for the Mystery Packs designed to accompany 1st grade science lessons, including the popular Glad Press’n Seal® product. When The Glad Products Company representatives became aware of the situation, they immediately leapt in to support students by directly donating the needed Press’n Seal® product to more than 3,000 teachers across the country so students could learn about light by making stained glass flowers.

“When we learned that Discovery Education couldn’t secure enough Press’n Seal® for the Mystery Science Packs through their normal channels we were happy to step in and help. As a company committed to purpose-driven growth, we know that investing in students today contributes to a better world tomorrow,” said Chris Nielsen, Associate Director, Brand Management at The Glad Products Company.

“Seeing the delight of students as they solve a science problem lights up the world. The goal of Mystery Science and Discovery Education is to help as many educators as possible nurture students’ natural curiosity. With the outstanding support of The Glad Products Company, we were able to maximize our impact together,” said Discovery Education’s General Manager of Social Impact, Amy Nakamoto. “Thank you to The Glad Products Company for stepping up to support educators work to inspire STEM learning through Mystery Science.”
