December 6, 2023 SouthWest Water Company Expands Headquarters in Texas

The company’s relocation to the former Minute Maid space will create over 20 jobs, announces Sugar Land Economic Development.

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Today, Sugar Land Economic Development (SLOED) has announced that SouthWest Water Company has expanded its headquarters, relocating to a 41,114-square-foot facility at Sugar Land Town Square. The company signed a 15-year lease at 2150 Town Square Place, a newly renovated, mixed-use, Class A complex. The expansion will create 20 new jobs, adding to the company’s workforce of more than 100 employees whose average annual salaries are more than $78,000.

“We’ve been in Sugar Land since 1985 – this thriving community has provided us with the tools needed for us to expand, from its reliable infrastructure, educated talent pool and pro-business policies,” said SouthWest Water Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Rob MacLean. “This strategic move not only reinforces our dedication to the region but also underscores the tremendous support that the city provides to its local businesses.”

SouthWest Water Company’s new facility was formerly occupied by Minute Maid. The eight-story building, which was remodeled in 2019, is within walking distance of over 20 restaurants, a 300-room full-service Marriott Hotel & Conference Center and a 1.4-acre pedestrian plaza.

To facilitate the lease agreement, Sugar Land Development Corporation (SLDC), an economic development corporation governed by a Board of Directors, provided SouthWest Water Company with a $1 million incentive, payable over two fiscal years.

Located 20 minutes southwest of downtown Houston, Sugar Land is home to 8.9 million square feet of industrial property, 8 million square feet of retail and 7.9 million square feet of office real estate. Robust infrastructure such as the I-69/US 59 highway facilitates transportation into the eastern parts of Texas, while an array of deep-water access ports, railways, and regional/international airports are accessible within an hour’s drive. With no corporate or personal income tax, the region offers a broad range of incentives and financing options for companies seeking to expand.
