January 31, 2023 TA Services Largest Year-over-Year Growth in 36 Years

TA Services celebrates a record year fueled by organic growth and strategic mergers and acquisitions.

MANSFIELD, TX – TA Services, a premier full-service logistics provider, announces the largest year-over-year growth in its 36-year history. Going from roughly $460 million in 2021 to a proforma run rate of over $700 million in 2022 was the result of strategic planning and exceptional third-party logistics services in a very dynamic market faced with tight capacity. Three significant acquisitions, as well as strategic organic growth, were critical to company growth as well.

TA Services has expanded its international and cold chain offerings, and expanded its geographic footprint to better serve customers, employees, and carriers across North America. In August 2021, TA Services announced its acquisition of Scout Logistics, a worldwide leader in cold chain logistics based in Canada. While the acquisition occurred in late 2021, TA Services began realizing the full benefits of Scout Logistics’ expertise in cold chain logistics in 2022.

Chris Bahr, Vice President of Brokerage Operations, said “The acquisition of Scout Logistics has provided legacy TA Services employees with additional knowledge and best practices for servicing temperature-sensitive shipments and has solidified another best-in-class service offering for North American shippers.”

TA Services made headlines with two other major acquisitions in 2022. In May, TA Services expanded its brokerage services with the acquisition of Alabama-based C2 Freight Resources. Then, in October, TA Services expanded westward with its acquisition of San Diego, CA-based KPI Logistics. These two acquisitions secured TA’s nationwide geographic coverage and were pivotal for TA’s strategic growth plan.

However, it wasn’t just acquisitions that drove growth. During a year when driver shortages crippled many companies, TA Services’ people-first mentality led to outstanding carrier partner retention. From matching carriers with their preferred loads and lanes to offering flexible payment options, TA Services ensured that drivers felt well-taken care of throughout the year. Furthermore, this year TA Services celebrated National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) with catered meals at their mill and warehouse sites and TA-branded gifts to carrier partners. It’s no surprise that when customers need more capacity, TA Services has partners ready and excited to work with them.

Dani Etkin-Spigelman, Vice President of Business Development at TA Services, said, “We didn’t have the same driver crunch that a lot of companies did because we were able to maintain strong relationships with carrier partners. We had a lot of experienced carrier partners continue to stay on the road for us, which was very helpful. We were able to onboard new customers because we had the capacity to continue moving more freight.”

It wasn’t only carrier partners who felt TA Services’ people-first commitment; employees across the organization did, too. This year, TA Services introduced a new employee recognition program called “Go the Extra Mile (GEM) Rewards.” The GEM Rewards program allows employees to receive points for work anniversaries, Employee of the Month awards, and exceptional performance. Employees can redeem these points for branded apparel and merchandise, gift cards, vacations, events, and more.

TA Services has received industry recognition, significant industry awards, key personnel hires, and increased customer satisfaction as a result of their growth.

In recognition of its leadership in logistics, TA Services and its executives received six awards in 2022. In March, Andrew Welling, Director of Cross-Border Services, was named one of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 2022 Pros to Know. Later in the year, TA Services received another award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive, this time for the 2022 Top Supply Chain Projects award, in recognition of TA Services’ work with one of North America’s largest structural steel fabricators. Additionally, TA Services’ work in the cold chain shone brightly, as Food Logistics awarded TA Services as a Top 3PL & Cold Storage Provider and a Top Software and Technology Provider for the cold chain. Finally, TA Services was recognized as a Top 100 Great Supply Chain Partner by SupplyChainBrain, and a Top 100 Domestic Transportation Management 3PL by Armstrong & Associates, Inc.

Reflecting on 2022, Scott Schell, CEO of TA Services, said, “I couldn’t be more proud of what our team accomplished in 2022. We expanded our services, our team, and our scope to include international shipments and coast-to-coast North American coverage. Best of all, we did it all while sticking to our commitment to putting people first and providing unrivaled customer service. What got us here is what will continue to propel us forward, and I truly believe the best is yet to come for TA Services.”
