Volvo Cars first American factory near Charleston, SC, demonstrates our commitment to the US and is a key part of our global manufacturing strategy,” said Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo Car USA LLC’s president and CEO. “We chose South Carolina for many reasons, including its access to a major port and strong infrastructure, but the biggest attraction to Volvo is the people in the Lowcountry. There continues to be a strong partnership with local and state government, and we’re beginning to build good relationships with our neighbors. The community’s willingness to make things happen and the positive attitude towards Volvo makes us realize now being two years into this journey that we made the right choice.”
