Voxel Innovations, a manufacturer specializing in pulsed electrochemical machining (PECM), achieves AS9100-D, ISO 9001:2015 certification.
RALEIGH, NC – Voxel Innovations, an advanced manufacturing company specializing in pulsed electrochemical machining (PECM), achieved AS9100-D certification on 1/17/23, which includes ISO 9001:2015 compliance. This certification allows Voxel to continue its growth, utilizing PECM to produce high-quality parts for the aerospace, medical device, energy, and defense industries.
PECM is a non-thermal, non-contact material removal method capable of creating small features with repeatability and superfinished surfaces on metallic parts. Voxel utilizes PECM to produce high-volume, tight-tolerance components, such as bone fixtures for the orthopedic industry and microchannel heat exchangers for the aerospace industry.
Voxel developed PECM as a response to engineers struggling to manufacture critical components for high-stress, high temperature-flux environments, requiring tough-to-machine materials. PECM can also reduce manufacturing costs for high-volume, fine resolution metallic parts comprised of advanced metal alloys.
Voxel Innovations was founded in 2015 in Raleigh, North Carolina by Daniel Herrington, the current CEO. Herrington and his company intend to utilize AS9100-D certification to expand Voxel’s contract manufacturing business in the aerospace market. The PECM technology can be a useful manufacturing tool for higher-volume, critical aerospace components, including turbofan engine blades and heat exchangers. Voxel is also expecting to achieve ISO 13485:2016 certification in Q2 2023 to expand their presence in the medical market.
Herrington explained, “Voxel is entering an exciting growth phase of the business and this AS9100-D certification is one of the first steps in expanding our production capacity. Over the next couple of years, we will be investing in new equipment and facility space while simultaneously maturing our intellectual property to better serve our customers.”
