LOS ANGELES, CA – Pulp Studio, the leading designer and manufacturer of technically superior decorative glass, is expanding upon their project repertoire with a few highly notable names in fashion: Louis Vuitton and Vacheron Constantin. The decorative glass manufacturer has been repeatedly tapped for creating luxury glass façade storefronts – and have more in the works slated for completion later this year.

“It’s an exhilarating time for our business as we see an increased number of building front projects come our way,” says Kirk Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Pulp Studio. “These projects showcase more than just the decorative interior glass that we’re known for. By providing industry leading innovation, design, quality and service, we have been able to completely customize beautiful façades for multiple luxury brands around the country.”

Louis Vuitton opened a renovated store at the Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta, Ga. The space visually represents the brand’s heritage and craftsmanship with an innovative Epi glass façade – the first and only design of its kind in the U.S. The storefront is meticulously constructed of two thick blocks of backlit glass with a custom inner layer and laminated. The glass itself is embedded with stainless steel and sculpted to mimic the fashion brand’s signature textured Epi leather pattern seen on bag handles.

In collaboration with Blue Water Glass, Inc. out of Port Huron, Mich., Pulp Studio designed the vertical support panel of the storefront consisted of 5/16” Low Iron over 5/16” Low Iron, utilizing Eastman Structural PVB. The system featured custom CNC milled 19 mm Low Iron glass consisting of 2.3” wide narrow strips with profile milled edges, scallops and high luster polishing. Each strip was separated with custom machined and bright polished 1/8” stainless bars on each edge, which matches the profile of the scalloped glass. The scalloped strips and polished stainless was then laminated to the vertical support panel for a horizontal profiled glass and stainless appearance.

Nestled between Madison and Park Avenue in New York City, the Vacheron Constantin flagship store spans an impressive 4,500 square feet over two floors. The store’s glass façade opens directly onto 57th Street, inviting city walkers to explore the artistry inside. A brass design in the shape of a Maltese Cross, which is Vacheron Constantin’s insignia, also encompasses the glass exterior.

Pulp Studio supplied all insulated glass units for Vacheron Constantin, some of which are made with their proprietary Chromavision™ metallic coating, which utilizes high precision fabrics as a substrate to create a lustrous, reflective look. During the day, Chromavision™ gives the storefront a look of inserted metal panels with the allure of a light screened effect at night. From inside the store, customers are still able to look out as if it were a one-way mirror.

About Pulp Studio
Founded in 1996, Pulp Studio passionately advocates for the creative use of glass as a building element. From the beginning, the brand’s defining mission is to fill the void in the market for innovative uses of glass in interior and façade projects. Pulp Studio combines technical prowess with design sensibility; creating products that reside at the intersection of fashion and function.

Pulp Studio employs craftspeople, artists, scientists, and inventors who view working with glass as an artistic endeavor – their medium being glass. The company’s capabilities include bending, hand-color coating, laser etching, glass carving, screen print imaging, drilling, notching, and a patented system for uniformly illuminating panels using high-intensity LEDs. Every project is another opportunity for Pulp Studio to further enrich the idea of “custom” by delivering products that are superior in design and functionality. One of the company’s insulated glass products, Ombra™ achieves a solar heat gain coefficient superior to that of other insulated glass units, dramatically reducing climate control requirements and providing significant energy savings over the life of a building.

Working in collaboration with architects and design studios, Pulp Studio’s products have been used in numerous high-profile projects including: Moynihan Station, New York, N.Y., the Space Needle in Seattle, W.A., David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York, N.Y., the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, C.A., Wilshire Grand in downtown Los Angeles, C.A. and the Gores Group Headquarters in Beverly Hills, C.A. www.pulpstudio.com
