From drivers to showroom operators and car manufacturers to tire companies, almost everyone involved in motoring can now benefit from virtual reality technology. Test drives can take place from the comfort of your own home, while showrooms no longer need to find physical space to store vehicles, as VR booths recreate the experience of driving a new car.
Several manufacturers are already making the most of VR to try out new features. For example, Ford and Audi have both created sensual experiences of their vehicles whereby motorists can get the feel of a new car through the use of Oculus Rift headsets. Even the scent of a new vehicle and the sound effects of doors opening and closing are recreated, testifying to the level of detail invested in maximizing the VR experience.
