December 21, 2020 How Can You Make a Website More Secure?

Some new ways to make your website more secure and protect important data.

If you have a website that contains confidential information and you do not want strangers to access the information, then it is smart to read this post and gain some knowledge. Making a website secure is tough for some people but it is very necessary.

There is a reason why cybersecurity is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. People are very cautious with their information and they should be. If their information is in the wrong hands it could be very bad.

The good news is that there are quite a few cybersecurity methods that can be implemented for users, but most people do not even know about them. That’s the reason behind this post because it will point out some new ways to make your website secure and more careful with important data.

Accept Comments Manually

Depending on the size of the website that you own, there might be comments made all the time from people that are commenting or leaving reviews. Hackers and people with bad intentions could easily leave a harmful link on the site and it could lead to a lot of problems down the road for users.

If they click on a suspicious link and it leads to their computer getting a virus, then it could lead to them having a very unpleasant experience and never coming back to your website. That is why manually accepting comments is the only way to get around this for the most part.

If you manually check and accept each comment or review, then you’ll be able to sort out the spam and harmful links from the good ones. It is time-consuming but well worth it.

Two Factor Authentication

If you have a website that deals with very confidential data with visitors, then you could look into a two-factor authentication solution that would provide a lot of security in the long run.

If you look at popular websites and exchanges that deal with topics such as cryptocurrency, they use two-factor authentications because it’s very safe and the technology is the next level. It makes people less likely to be able to hack into an account because it would be a major struggle. Obviously, it is effective because large websites are using it and remaining relatively safe from hackers and people that are up to no good.

Security Questions

The last point that I will make is the use of security questions. This is has been around for a long time when users need to log in from a new device or change passwords, but it is still effective. A user’s information could be compromised, but it is unlikely that they will be able to answer a very personal question about the user. That is what makes security questions so useful.

Even sophisticated websites still use them to this day because even though a security question is basic, it should still get the job done in protecting website users.
