March 2, 2021 Unique Non-Standard Solutions for Roof Windows

Roof manufacturers offer non-standard solutions for roof windows, particularly curved windows, conservation windows and non-standard shapes.

Sometimes the architecture of the building or the shape of the roof forces investors to choose non-standard windows. Manufacturers of roof windows are ready for challenges posed by the construction of non-standard buildings, as well as the imagination of architects or investors. They offer roof windows not only in original shapes, non-standard flashings, opening and non-opening, but also guarantee unique possibilities.

Curved roof windows

Curved windows are distinguished by a special construction that makes it possible to install the window in a roof in the shape of a curve. The frame, sash and glazing unit are in the shape of an arc. The steel covering is also adapted to the atypical form of the window. The curved window opens in a pivoting manner, and the handle is positioned at the bottom of the window sash. Manufacturers of curved windows, such as Fakro, produce them on the special order of customers. In most cases it is enough to specify the angle of inclination of the roof and the type of roofing, as well as the dimensions of the glazing. You can order curved windows in many sizes, installed as a single or in a combination unit.

Conservation roof windows

Old, historic buildings require not only façade windows with the characteristic sash bar, but also roof windows in a similar style. Windows with a vertical sash bar in the middle of the glass can also decorate buildings styled to look vintage. Black metal cladding coverings and flashing is also stylistically consistent with traditional buildings. Roof window manufacturers offer products with a sash bar in typical sizes that can open in either a pivot or tilt and turn fashion. Roof hatches with a sash bar are also manufactured.

Non-standard glazing for roof windows

In addition to unusual design, shape or color of roof windows, these types of products can be distinguished by unique glazing. A good example is the glass pane decorated with an individual pattern. Resin is used in the production of stained glass panes of roof windows, which gives the drawings durability and attractive visual effect.

Among the decorative panes of roof windows, ornamental products are also worth mentioning. Their surface is smooth on one side and on the other side there are regular or irregular patterns.

Glass panes in roof windows may also be equipped with special coatings, e.g. easily washable, which makes it easier to keep the glazing clean. Absorptive panes with low-emission coatings limit the penetration of sunlight into the interior. Reflective glazing, also equipped with low-emission coatings, reflects solar radiation, minimizing excessive heating of rooms under the roof during the summer months.
