July 9, 2020 Considerations When Choosing a Boiler for Your Business

Before you commit to a new boiler consider 4 things; budget, what the boiler will be used for, quality and how long you need it to last.

Your Budget

As with any business decision, one of the most important factors in determining which boilers you can consider will be your available budget. Needless to say, there is no sense in looking at boilers that are way beyond your means, as this is only going to lead to disappointment.

An industrial boiler is always going to represent a significant investment; it is simply the nature of the beast that you will have to be prepared to spend a reasonable amount. Of course, the more money you are able to set aside for your new boiler, the more options you will be able to consider.

Avoid the temptation to simply jump on the first boiler that comes your way. Instead, take the time to consider your options and work out which is going to be the most cost-effective.

What You Will Use It For?

This is one of the most important questions to ask, as selecting the correct boiler will be dependent on you knowing exactly what it is that you are looking for. There are numerous purposes that a boiler can serve – heating buildings is the most obvious example, but there are many more. For example, some businesses will use a steam boiler for drying, brewing, or even food processing.

Naturally, each of these different applications will require a different kind of boiler. Many industrial boilers are able to serve multiple purposes simultaneously so try to find one that fulfills as many of your requirements as possible in a single package.

What Indicators of Quality Will You Look For?

If you are going to splash out on a new boiler, then you will want to be sure that you are getting your money’s worth. Before you commit to any boiler, you need to ensure that, as well as offering all the features that you require, it is a boiler that you can expect to last for as long as you need it to.

Buying a boiler from a manufacturer with a good reputation will give you peace of mind and reduce the chances of a nasty surprise down the line. You might have to pay a little more to get a boiler from a popular brand, but it is worth making the extra investment now for a quality product that is going to last.

How Long Does It Need to Last?

A good steam boiler should last for a very long time but, as with any other kind of heavy machinery, this will depend on your ability to keep it well-maintained. Assuming that the boiler is well looked after, you should easily be able to get 20-30 years out of it before it needs to be replaced or significant repairs need to be undertaken.

A boiler is a significant investment under any circumstances. However, when you are choosing a boiler for a business, it is even more important that you make the right decision. A low-quality or unsuitable boiler can end up costing you many multiples what it would have cost to buy a suitable boiler to begin with. Make sure that you factor in everything we have highlighted above when making your decision.
