CHICAGO and LONDON – William Blair, the premier global boutique with expertise in investment banking, investment management, and private wealth management, announced today that it has continued its European investment banking growth with the addition of Kiara Mitchinson. Based in London, Mitchinson joins as a director in the firm’s financial sponsors group, where she will provide comprehensive advisory services to private equity clients.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Kiara to William Blair’s financial sponsors group and our growing European footprint,” said Anu Sharma, head of European investment banking at William Blair. “Our financial sponsors group is a global, integrated team with a steadfast commitment to building strong relationships with European private equity and other financial investors, and Kiara’s advice and network will enhance our alignment with those audiences.”

Mitchinson draws on nearly 15 years of advisory experience, including positions at investment banks and on an in-house corporate investment team. Throughout her career, she has engaged in all aspects of transactional advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions, divestments, IPOs, equity and debt capital markets, and strategic engagements with venture capital and private equity firms. She joins from Barrenjoey, where she was a principal, and has held roles at Wesfarmers, PJT Partners, Credit Suisse, and Goldman Sachs. Mitchinson earned Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law (with distinction) degrees from the University of Western Australia.

“I am honored to join William Blair’s financial sponsors group and support the firm’s ongoing European growth trajectory,” Mitchinson said. “The team’s reputation for advisory services across the transactions landscape and deep investor relationships are well-respected and combine to ensure exceptional service and outcomes for clients.”

William Blair’s investment banking expansion across Europe builds on 2022’s hiring of six senior-level bankers covering multiple sectors, as well as the opening of an office in Madrid and the addition of investment banking capabilities in the firm’s Zurich office. William Blair was also named the winner of the 2022 European Corporate Finance House of the Year award at the Real Deals’ Private Equity Awards.
