Luxembourg – Luxembourg-based OCSiAl, the global leader in graphene nanotube synthesis, announces the appointment of Mr. Alain Kinsch as an independent nonexecutive director, effective May 14, 2024.

Alain Kinsch has served as the President of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange since May 2022 and is Vice President of the Luxembourg State Council. From 2004 to 2020, he was a prominent figure at Ernst & Young (EY).  He founded and led, from 2004 to 2012, EY’s Private Equity practice in Luxembourg and served as the leader of EY’s Private Equity fund practice for EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India, Africa). Mr. Kinsch was the Country Managing Partner of EY Luxembourg from 2009 to 2020, a period during which he and his partners more than doubled its business and headcount. Throughout his career, Alain Kinsch has served a diverse client portfolio as a lead audit and advisory partner, including private equity funds, banks and industrial companies. Today, Alain Kinsch supports several international and Luxembourg companies as an independent director and works as investor in and advisor to start-ups and private equity houses. He is also a longstanding member of several professional committees of the Luxembourg Financial Centre.

Konstantin Notman, OCSiAl CEO, said: “OCSiAl is constantly strengthening its governance bodies, both its Board and its Management, in order to attract the best talent to achieve our company’s high ambitions. Independent directors play a critical role in this process. Alain will complement the skillset of the board as a whole with his extensive capital markets experience, his strategic leadership and outstanding audit and risk management expertise gained throughout his distinguished career.”

Alain Kinsch commented: “OCSiAl has the potential to become the company that will fundamentally transform the basic characteristics of countless base materials, thereby not only achieving huge benefits for its customers and end users but also having a significant and lasting impact on the road towards a more sustainable and circular economy. I am very pleased that this potential world leader in nanotechnology established its headquarters and plans to have its largest factory in Luxembourg and am excited to be able to contribute to its journey.”

OCSiAl specializes in developing technologies based on graphene nanotubes, a unique material with an exceptional set of properties and potential applications across up to 50 percent of global materials market. Graphene nanotubes are a crucial element in reaching a future circular economy and net-zero goals, thanks to their ability to optimize resource consumption by extending product life cycles and fundamentally transforming product characteristics.

Currently, OCSiAl partners with most of the leading European car makers to develop high-performance batteries, enhanced by nanotubes, aimed at propelling the transition to electric vehicles. The company plans to establish the world’s largest graphene nanotube synthesis facility in Differdange, Luxembourg, in the coming years.
