Elgin, Illinois – Gebrüder Weiss, an international transport and logistics company, continues its U.S. expansion with a new warehouse location in Elgin, Illinois. The warehouse is part of a larger expansion in the Illinois area, following the company’s USA headquarters relocation from Des Plaines to Wood Dale, Illinois, in October 2022. The Wood Dale facility includes 16,000 square feet of office space and a 45,000 square-foot warehouse. The Elgin warehouse adds an additional 106,000 square feet of space to the company’s Illinois footprint.

“Our statewide expansion, with the new Elgin warehouse and Wood Dale headquarters relocation, allows us to provide more flexibility to our national and global customers while maintaining our commitment to Illinois as our USA headquarters home,” said Mark McCullough, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss USA.

The COVID-19 pandemic created a spike in global warehouse demand, with a 21% increase in the US from 2020 to 2021, and a 99% occupancy rate in existing US warehouse space. As a family-owned company with a core business of overland transport, air, sea freight, and logistics, Gebrüder Weiss prides itself on a 550-year history of anticipating and adapting to customers’ needs, including strategies to solve for post-pandemic logistics challenges.

“The supply chain continues to face logistical pressures and economic uncertainties. Our Illinois operations are crucial to efficient supply chain solutions for our U.S.-based customers, as well as our customers abroad,” McCullough said. “We’re focused on leveraging our strengths and expertise as a globally connected partner while offering the agility of nearshoring.”
