WBK Engineering receives DBE certification in MI six months after receiving DBE certification in IL.

(BATTLE CREEK, Mich.) — WBK Engineering (WBK), a Bodwé Professional Services company with offices in Battle Creek, Michigan and St. Charles, Illinois, has been certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)  in Michigan six months after receiving its DBE certification in Illinois. WBK Engineering has more than 25 years of civil engineering and related consulting experience, including transportation, bridge and structural, municipal, environmental and water resources, planning and development, and construction oversight services.

“Achieving DBE certification in Michigan six months after our certification in Illinois is thrilling,” said Greg Chismark, WBK president. “For 25 years WBK Engineering has been a dedicated civil engineering partner serving public agency  transportation needs. With the DBE certification in Michigan, we expect to expand our engineering presence in Michigan which began by opening the Battle Creek office in 2016. Ultimately, this helps us fulfill our mission of building sustainable professional services businesses that grow the economy and legacy of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi.”

WBK Engineering has been added to the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Michigan United Certification Program (MUCP) as a DBE covering engineering and environmental consulting services. Leading the transportation practice for WBK Engineering is Yemi Oyewole, a professional engineer. Oyewole also serves on the board of managers for WBK. “DBE certification in Michigan represents another milestone in our commitment to providing top-notch civil engineering and consulting services,” said Oyewole. “This certification reaffirms our dedication to serving communities and fostering sustainable growth. We are excited to continue our journey of excellence in Michigan.”

In addition to DBE status, WBK Engineering is certified as a U.S. Small Business section 8(a) small business and is qualified as an Indian Small Business Economic Enterprise. This has enabled WBK to significantly grow its business outside its regional market, including work across the country with federal agencies such as the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Department of Education, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Veterans Administration.
