September 22, 2026 DUOMI CNC Friction Drilling & Multi-Spindle Efficiency

DUOMI combines friction drilling, multi-spindle machining and dual-station automation to increase output and reduce production steps.

DUOMI CNC is advancing its approach to drilling and tapping productivity by combining multiple efficiency-focused technologies in application-specific CNC solutions. Rather than relying on spindle speed alone, DUOMI engineers machines to improve the entire production cycle—integrating friction drilling and tapping, multi-spindle machining and dual-station operation where the application requires it. The goal is to help manufacturers produce more parts in the same amount of time while reducing unnecessary production steps.

Friction drilling and tapping can simplify thin-wall tube and profile processing by forming a threaded boss from the existing material, reducing the need for additional fastening operations such as welding or installing separate nuts in suitable applications. Multi-spindle machining addresses another source of lost production time: frequent tool changes. By using multiple spindles for different drilling or tapping operations, several hole or thread processes can be completed without repeatedly changing tools. The result is a process designed around continuous machining rather than minimizing the machine itself.

DUOMI also applies dual-station automation to reduce non-cutting time. While one station is being machined, the operator or automation system can load or unload the other station, helping keep the spindle working instead of waiting for part handling. When combined with multi-spindle machining and process-integrated friction drilling and tapping, one machine can consolidate multiple operations and, in suitable high-volume applications, deliver the productivity of more than one conventional machine while also reducing setup, handling and secondary processing.

This approach reflects DUOMI’s broader manufacturing philosophy: More Output. Fewer Operations. Lower Cost per Part. The company does not view drilling and tapping simply as individual machine functions, but as production processes that can be redesigned for greater efficiency. By combining process optimization, multi-spindle machining, dual-station automation and friction drilling and tapping, DUOMI CNC continues to build its position as a Drilling & Tapping Productivity Specialist, guided by one principle: We Engineer The Machine Around Your Process.

As manufacturers offer more customization than ever before, managing product complexity has become a critical challenge. Tune in with Dan Joe Barry, Vice President of Product Marketing at Configit, who explores how companies are tackling the growing number of product configurations across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and service. He explains how Configuration Lifecycle Management (CLM) helps organizations maintain a single source of truth for configuration data. The result: fewer errors, faster quoting, and the ability to deliver customized products at scale.
