+Vantage Vinyl collaborates with ecomedes to create online database for construction professionals seeking sustainable building materials.
WASHINGTON, DC – The Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC), a self-funded business council advancing sustainability in the vinyl industry, is raising the awareness of the council’s +Vantage Vinyl®-verified companies by launching a collaboration with ecomedes. An online database for construction professionals seeking sustainable building materials, ecomedes seeks to optimize product procurement for architects, engineers, and contractors who must achieve certain sustainability benchmarks in their construction projects. Thanks to the new collaboration, companies that have achieved +Vantage Vinyl verification via the VSC are now listed on ecomedes.
“The +Vantage Vinyl verification program provides specifiers with the assurance that qualified companies have met the environmental, social and governance requirements required for verification. Inclusion in the ecomedes database provides greater visibility for these companies for construction projects that put sustainability at the forefront,” said Jay Thomas, VSC executive director.
“With ecomedes, we have created an online repository of critical information about sustainable building materials companies, their sustainable products, associated certifications, labels, and declarations. Our mission is to help construction project managers and other construction professionals save time and money in their search for the right products for their commercial structures,” added Paul Shahriari, co-founder and chief innovation officer of ecomedes. “Adding +Vantage Vinyl-verified companies to the mix only broadens the spectrum for impact-aware specifiers seeking these solutions, and we’re pleased to formalize this collaboration with the VSC.”
Companies that Earn the Mark through VSC’s +Vantage Vinyl initiative must demonstrate their contribution to industry progress and continuous improvement in sustainability across all three sectors: social, economic, and environmental. Verification through GreenCircle Certified, LLC authenticates and reports on the activities and key performance indicators achieved by each company within the five sustainability pillars: environmental stewardship, social diligence, economic soundness, collaboration, and open communications.
Thus far in 2022, 17 companies have achieved +Vantage Vinyl verification and are included in the ecomedes database.
