October 17, 2023 Bagnalls Joins Paint Green Scheme

The Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) welcomes painting/decorating contractor Alfred Bagnall & Son Ltd to its Paint Green scheme.

Paint Green encourages PDA members to reduce, reuse or recycle excess paint and paint containers in a bid to drive down waste across the industry and aims to act as a ‘first step’ on a sustainability journey.

PDA members across the UK elected to join the scheme when it was announced in November and launched in March, and now Bagnalls – alongside all 10 of its branch subsidiaries – has taken the Paint Green Pledge this summer.

PDA Chief Executive Neil Ogilvie said: “Many of our PDA members have made a commitment to drive down waste paint and containers through our Paint Green initiative and we’re delighted that Bagnalls and its subsidiary branches across the UK are throwing their support behind the scheme.

“We’re encouraging our members to look at ways to reduce the amount of waste produced, and either recycle left over paint, or find a way to reuse it. Our hope is that the scheme will expand over time, allowing members to build in systemic change as part of a sustainability journey.

“PDA members are trained, insured and trusted operatives, who commit to delivering a quality job at a reasonable price.”

Bagnalls Group of companies, including branch subsidiaries in Leeds, London and South East, the North, North East, North West, East Midlands, Midlands, West, South Wales and its Restoration team have all committed to recycling more than 70% of paint containers and more than 90% of excess paint.

Joanne Gualda, Director at Bagnalls said: “Like many companies we have made a firm commitment to driving sustainability in our business and initiatives such as Paint Green pave the way for companies of all sizes in the painting industry to make a real environmental difference.

“Every can recycled and every litre of paint reused means less waste – Bagnalls colleagues have all embraced the principles of Paint Green and are committed to achieving the targets set.  We would encourage all members of the PDA to pledge their commitment to Paint Green.”

About the PDA
The Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) was established in July 2002, following a merger of the British Decorators’ Association and the Painting & Decorating Federation. The British Decorators’ Association was originally founded in 1894.

This organisation is Britain’s largest trade body, dedicated to the painting and decorating trade. Members include sole traders through to large-scale national contractors employing hundreds of operatives.

The PDA is proud of its long history and high standards, and a registered member can be relied upon to do a good professional job at a fair price.

About Paint Green
Launched in November 2022, the PDA’s Paint Green campaign is a sustainability initiative which encourages PDA members to commit to drive down waste paint and paint containers.

PDA members who take the Paint Green pledge can display the Paint Green logo on their online platforms, stationery and vehicles.

The initiative aims to dovetail with existing paint and container reuse and recycle schemes and help customers identify painters and decorators who are committed to protecting the planet.
